Helping children separate from their parents is a key component of our TWOs Program, and should be handled with care and understanding. Our teachers are highly sensitive to our children’s needs and feelings. To help ease the process, parents and teachers work together to create a link between home and the new school environment.
For TWOs, the child will receive a note in the mail with a photo of the teacher as a way of establishing closer ties between home and school. Additionally, there is a back-to-school event for parents / children before the first day of school.
When children begin school, a parent (or a caregiver) is expected to stay with their child at the school during the first days or weeks of the child’s entrance. The amount of time will depend on the child’s own developmental stage, previous experiences with separation and the parents’ feeling about leaving the child at the school. It’s important that parents never sneak out in the hope that the child won't notice their absence.
